ARTIST STATEMENT
"As a Mexican-born American citizen, I pull from an archive that references ideas that traverse borders, an abstract allegory for my identity."
About the artist

Francisco Moreno (b.1986, Mexico City) is a Mexican American artist who lives and works in Dallas, Texas. Working across painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, and performance, Moreno constructs densely layered worlds in which art history, mythology, and personal experience converge. His visual language draws from Old Master painting, Mexican muralism, pre-Columbian imagery, religious iconography, science fiction, and Surrealism. Rather than treating history as fixed, Moreno recombines its symbols and structures to examine cultural hybridity, power, heritage, and belonging.
"“Where I have found freedom is in the rules and parameters of the past.”
