Richard Nonas, COL; the place between, 2017, Wooden beams, Avenue Winston Churchill between the Grand Palais and Petit Palais, Paris.
Founded in San Francisco by Callie Jones and Julia Li in 2023, COL Gallery presents emerging and historically significant artists, creating conversations across generations, practices and cultural perspectives.
The gallery is named in honor of the late sculptor Richard Nonas.
"For sculpture is that spatial, gap-between, that col between mountain peaks. Sculpture is that implied absence, that almost-clarity about not-quite-confusion. Sculpture is that dissonance. The dissonance, I mean, of intersecting and conflicting chunks of human meaning cut into an historicized world. The dissonance, that is to say, of art."
