Jess Xiaoyi Han

Jess Xiaoyi Han (b. 1997) delves into the realm of emotions and personal narratives, manifesting them through a dynamic interplay of string-like forms that traverse her canvases. Born in Dalian, China, she completed her Illustration degree at the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2019.

Han's artistic journey commenced with portraiture, a foundation that later evolved into an exploration of abstract paintings during her post-grad pursuits. Her transition from China to the United States is reflected in the multifaceted layers of her creations, each chapter of her life encapsulated within them. Taking inspiration from the works of Kandinsky and Hilma af Klint, Han found solace in abstraction, a medium that aptly encapsulates her personal odyssey. This allows her to conjure art that seamlessly melds tranquility with controlled chaos.

Han currently lives and works in New York. Her work has been shown internationally with recent solo exhibitions at the renowned Ross + Kramer Gallery, New York and Bridge Gallery, Sanya, China and in group exhibitions at Fernberger Gallery, Los Angeles, Rusha & Co, Los Angeles, Sens Gallery, Hong Kong, and Fir Gallery, Beijing.
